Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has pledged a cash gift of ₦50 million to Nigeria’s senior women’s football team, the Super Falcons, ahead of their crucial second-leg encounter against the Amazons of Benin Republic.

The governor made the announcement on Monday in Abeokuta, where the match is scheduled to take place as part of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers.Abiodun praised the Falcons for their consistency and dedication to flying Nigeria’s flag high on the global stage, urging them to secure a resounding victory in front of their home fans.

He described the team as “a source of pride and inspiration to young girls across the nation,” reaffirming his administration’s commitment to supporting sports development in the state.The Super Falcons are aiming to seal their qualification after a strong performance in the first leg against Benin Republic.
