The Warri Refinery has been temporarily shut down for routine maintenance, according to the NNPC Limited.
Despite this, the company assures that the shutdown is not due to an explosion, as some reports have suggested, but rather planned intervention work on equipment to improve operational stability and product quality, particularly for diesel (AGO) and kerosene.
The maintenance is expected to be completed within a few days, and AGO loading has continued at a reduced rate during this time.
The NNPC emphasized its commitment to maintaining product supply and thanked stakeholders for their patience.
The refinery, which was recently restarted after a long period of inactivity and is operating at 60% capacity, had undergone a $1.48 billion rehabilitation project approved in 2021.
