NDLEA Intercepts Drugs Hidden in Frozen Snails, Electrical Bulbs, and Female Clothing

News

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have uncovered a series of ingenious smuggling attempts involving illicit drugs concealed in frozen snails, electrical bulbs, and female garments.

The agency said the intercepted consignments were destined for the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, as part of ongoing operations to dismantle international drug trafficking networks.According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the seizures were made through coordinated intelligence-led operations at various export hubs in Lagos and Abuja,

where officers discovered the cleverly concealed narcotics during routine cargo inspections.Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects behind the shipments attempted to disguise the drugs in everyday household and food items to evade detection by airport security and customs scanners.

Babafemi noted that the agency is intensifying efforts to track down the identified members of the trafficking syndicate, both within and outside the country.

He reaffirmed the NDLEA’s commitment to preventing Nigeria from being used as a transit route for illegal drugs, stressing that all individuals connected to the latest seizures will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
