A brand new, approximately 85-foot yacht named the Dolce Vento, valued at around $940,000, sank just 15 minutes into its first voyage. The incident occurred off the coast of Zonguldak’s Eregli district in northern Turkey.
Video footage captured the vessel listing to one side and slowly submerging. The owner, captain, and two crew members were on board and managed to safely jump into the water and swim to shore without injury.
The yacht had been delivered to its owner from Istanbul. Officials are investigating the cause of the sinking and will conduct technical inspections to determine what led to the incident.
