In a move to recognize and reward exceptional service, President Bola Tinubu has approved the immediate employment of 200 outstanding National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members into the federal civil service. The corps members, who were honored for their distinguished service during the 2020 to 2023 service years, will also receive a cash award of ₦250,000 each.

The announcement was made today, and it is seen as a significant step to encourage dedication and excellence among Nigerian youth. The President’s directive aims to provide a clear path for young Nigerians who have demonstrated commitment and patriotic service to the nation.
This initiative is a departure from previous years, where such recognition did not always translate into immediate employment opportunities.
The 200 honorees were selected based on their impactful contributions to their host communities, ranging from community development projects to innovative solutions in various sectors. The cash awards and employment are meant to serve as a token of appreciation for their efforts and to motivate future corps members to strive for similar levels of excellence. This development is expected to boost morale within the NYSC program and highlight the importance of the scheme in national development.

This directive underscores the government’s commitment to supporting young talent and integrating them into the nation’s workforce. The federal civil service is expected to benefit from the skills, energy, and fresh perspectives these young professionals will bring.
