Speaking at a lecture at the University of Ilorin, Ikenweiwe, representing the DSS director-general, argued that those with lower academic achievements shouldn’t be responsible for national security.
He believes academic institutions should provide the DSS with lists of their highest-achieving graduates to bolster the country’s security framework.
Ikenweiwe stated that in developed nations, like Israel, high-scoring students are automatically directed to university.
He questioned how someone with low intelligence could effectively combat sophisticated criminal networks.
He emphasized the need for intellectual capacity in tracking criminal activity. He expressed hope that Nigeria would adopt similar practices, urging academia to supply the DSS with information on excelling students so they can be compelled to serve the nation.
