The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man identified as Adeniyi Benjamin for allegedly operating an unlicensed fertility clinic in Ibadan, the state capital.
Benjamin was reportedly taken into custody following investigations into his activities at the facility, where he allegedly presented himself as a fertility specialist despite not having the required approval to operate such a medical centre.
According to the police, the suspect allegedly offered fertility-related services to members of the public at the unlicensed facility.
The arrest is part of the command’s efforts to clamp down on individuals allegedly providing medical services without the necessary qualifications, licences or regulatory approval.
The police said investigations are ongoing to establish the full extent of the suspect’s activities and determine whether other individuals were involved.
Authorities are also expected to take appropriate legal action based on the outcome of the investigation.
