The General Overseer of Dayspring Assembly, Awada, Obosi, Pastor Harrison Anazodo, has been arraigned before Justice Jude Obiora of the Anambra State High Court sitting in Awka on a seven-count charge filed by the Anambra State Government.
The charges include allegations of promoting the acquisition of wealth through supernatural means, an act said to be prohibited under the Anambra State Homeland Security Law 2025. He is also facing allegations related to murder, abduction, and the unlawful isolation of individuals from their families by allegedly keeping them in his residence.
According to the prosecution, the alleged offences were committed between 2000 and 2025.
Pastor Anazodo, who was brought to court from the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital in Awka, pleaded not guilty to all seven charges.
Following his plea, defence counsel, W. O. Abonyi, applied for bail on his behalf. However, the prosecution counsel, C. V. Ononye, opposed the application, arguing that the prosecution had not been given adequate notice and sufficient time to prepare a response.
Taking into account the defendant’s reported health condition, including claims that he had spent three weeks in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit, the court ordered that he be returned to the medical facility.
Justice Obiora subsequently adjourned the case until October 12, 2026, for the hearing of the bail application and further proceedings.
The allegations remain before the court, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
