Vice President Kashim Shettima has appealed to Nigerians, friends, political associates and well-wishers not to organise public celebrations or place congratulatory advertorials in newspapers and other media platforms ahead of his 60th birthday on September 2.
Instead, the Vice President called on those who wish to honour him to offer prayers for Nigeria, stressing that the country needs collective support and divine guidance at this critical period.
According to Shettima, prayers should be directed towards the success of the economic reforms being implemented by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, improved security across the country, national unity, peace and sustainable prosperity for all Nigerians.
He noted that while he appreciates the goodwill and support of friends, associates and citizens, the current challenges facing the nation require greater attention than personal celebrations.
The Vice President further stated that the most meaningful birthday gift he could receive would be sincere prayers for Nigeria’s progress, stability and development rather than public festivities or media campaigns in his honour.
Shettima, who will turn 60 on September 2, urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and continue supporting efforts aimed at building a more secure, united and prosperous country.
His appeal comes amid ongoing efforts by the Tinubu administration to address economic and security challenges while pursuing reforms intended to strengthen the nation’s long-term growth and development.
