The Delta State Government has restated its prohibition on graduation parties and similar celebratory events in schools across the state, warning that any institution that violates the directive will face strict disciplinary measures.
According to the government, the policy is part of ongoing efforts to curb unnecessary financial burdens on parents and to refocus schools on academic discipline rather than elaborate celebrations.
The state authorities emphasized that school administrators are expected to comply fully with the directive, adding that monitoring and enforcement mechanisms have been strengthened to ensure adherence.
Officials also cautioned that any school found organizing or permitting graduation parties, especially at nursery, primary, and junior secondary levels, risks severe sanctions, including possible closure or withdrawal of approval.
The government maintains that the ban is intended to promote simplicity in the education system and reduce practices it considers excessive and non-essential to learning outcomes.
