A senior doctor in Benue State has reportedly died from Lassa fever, following the confirmation of a fresh outbreak of the viral disease in the state.
Health authorities said measures have been intensified to contain the spread, including increased surveillance, contact tracing, public awareness campaigns, and other preventive steps.
Residents have been urged to maintain proper hygiene, avoid contact with infected persons, keep food and surroundings clean, and report suspected symptoms such as fever, weakness, headaches, and bleeding signs to health facilities immediately.
The outbreak has renewed calls for vigilance as medical teams continue efforts to prevent further transmission.
