Nigeria’s Real Problem Is Institutional Corruption, Not Tinubu — Femi Kuti

News Trending

Afrobeat musician and social commentator Femi Kuti has argued that Nigeria’s major challenge is not President Bola Ahmed Tinubu alone, but the deep-rooted institutional corruption that has affected the country for decades.

Kuti said the problem goes beyond individual politicians, pointing to weak institutions, compromised systems and networks of powerful elites that continue to influence governance and accountability.

According to him, Nigeria’s judiciary and other key institutions must be strengthened if the country is to make meaningful progress. He suggested that focusing solely on Tinubu could distract from the deeper structural problems that have continued to hold the nation back.

Kuti’s comments have sparked discussions about corruption, governance and the responsibility of institutions in addressing Nigeria’s longstanding challenges.

He maintained that lasting change would require Nigerians to look beyond individual leaders and confront the institutional structures that allow corruption and impunity to thrive.
