The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued 252 victims of human trafficking in Katsina State between January and July 2026.

According to the agency, the victims were rescued through intelligence-led operations, public reports, and collaborative efforts with security agencies and local communities. NAPTIP said many of the victims, including women and children, had been targeted by traffickers with false promises of jobs, education, and better opportunities.

The agency also revealed that investigations are ongoing, while suspected traffickers have been arrested and are facing prosecution. Rescued victims are receiving medical care, counseling, rehabilitation, and support to help them rebuild their lives.

NAPTIP urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, stressing that human trafficking remains a serious crime that can only be tackled through collective action and public awareness. The agency reaffirmed its commitment to protecting vulnerable persons and bringing traffickers to justice.
