May Yul-Edochie, the estranged wife of actor Yul Edochie, has filed a ₦1.5 billion lawsuit at the Lagos State High Court against Yinka Omolola Theisen, her former lawyer Emeka Ugwuonye, and other unidentified social media users over alleged cyberbullying, defamation, and the unlawful release of private information online.
According to court documents, May is asking the court to order the removal of social media accounts and posts she claims were used to defame her and damage her reputation. She also wants social media platforms to disclose information that could help identify anonymous users behind the alleged online attacks.
In a 126-paragraph affidavit, May alleged that she has endured years of coordinated online harassment by the defendants and operators of several blogs and Facebook pages. She claimed the posts contained false allegations, manipulated photographs, insulting caricatures, AI-generated images, death wishes, and other offensive content aimed at tarnishing her image.
She further stated that despite issuing legal notices to some of the defendants in 2025 demanding the removal of the alleged defamatory content, the attacks continued, with new social media accounts allegedly created to sustain the campaign against her.
May also accused her former lawyer of breaching client confidentiality by disclosing private information shared during legal representation and publishing materials she described as false, defamatory, and misleading.
She is seeking ₦1 billion in damages from Emeka Ugwuonye and ₦500 million from Yinka Omolola Theisen. She also wants the court to compel social media platforms to reveal the identities of anonymous account operators allegedly involved in the campaign.
Justice Abdul-Raheem Tejumade Muyideen has directed that court documents be served on the defendants through all known contact channels. The case has been adjourned for a report on the service of the court processes.
