Two suspected kidnappers have been killed during a fierce gun battle with operatives of the Ondo State Police Command along the Akure-Owo Expressway.
According to the police, the operation followed credible intelligence on the activities of an armed kidnapping gang operating in the area. Officers moved in to intercept the suspects, who reportedly opened fire, leading to an exchange of gunfire.
At the end of the operation, two of the suspects were neutralized, while others escaped into the surrounding forest with gunshot wounds.
The police recovered firearms, ammunition, and several mobile phones believed to have been used by the gang.
The Ondo State Police Command said efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects and urged residents to report anyone with suspicious gunshot wounds or suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to combating kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
