Akpabio Says No Leadership Vacuum as Tinubu Continues Working Leave Abroad

News Trending

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has dismissed concerns over an alleged leadership vacuum in Nigeria, saying President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains firmly in charge of the country despite his ongoing working leave abroad.

Akpabio explained that he is the Senate President and not the Acting President because Tinubu is still in power and continues to oversee the affairs of the country.

According to him, the President’s absence from Nigeria does not amount to a constitutional vacancy, as modern technology allows him to communicate and issue instructions remotely.

“I am the Senate President, and I am not the acting President of Nigeria, because President Tinubu is still in power,” Akpabio said.

He added that Tinubu is currently on a working leave and that there is no absence in Aso Rock.

“The world is a global village, and one can give instructions over the internet. So, why are people complaining?” he said.

Akpabio maintained that there is currently no vacancy in the presidency, stressing that Tinubu remains responsible for running the affairs of Nigeria while away from the country.
