Emotions ran high as alleged travel agent scammer, Ifeanyi Onukwubiri, popularly known as TMT Travels, was reportedly paraded before several individuals who claimed they were defrauded of millions of naira under the guise of travel and visa processing services.
According to accounts shared during the encounter, many of the alleged victims said they had not seen Onukwubiri in nearly two years following the disappearance of funds they entrusted to him for travel arrangements, visa applications, and relocation plans.
One woman broke down in tears while recounting her family’s ordeal, alleging that her husband suffered a fatal heart attack after losing a substantial amount of money to the travel scheme. She claimed the financial loss and emotional stress took a devastating toll on their family.
Another alleged victim, who said she traveled from Libya to Nigeria to process a visa through TMT Travels, narrated how she and members of her family were allegedly scammed. The woman expressed frustration over the incident, claiming that while many victims were struggling with the consequences of their losses, the suspect was allegedly living lavishly and even spent money celebrating his dog’s birthday.
Several other individuals present also shared stories of financial hardship, delayed travel plans, and emotional distress allegedly linked to their dealings with the travel agency.
The allegations have generated widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians calling for justice and urging prospective travelers to thoroughly verify travel agencies before making payments.
Authorities are expected to continue investigations into the claims, while the suspect will have the opportunity to respond to the allegations through the appropriate legal process. It is important to note that the accusations remain allegations until proven in court.
