Popular Zambian model and socialite Lisa Mutambo has died at the age of 25 after reportedly falling unconscious following a night out with friends in Lusaka.
Police said the incident was reported at Chelstone Police Station at about 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 2026, with preliminary information indicating that Mutambo died between 3:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. at Victoria Hospital.
According to police deputy spokesperson Chipo Kaitisha, Mutambo had spent the evening with two female friends at a hotel where she served as an ambassador. The three women later left at about 10:30 p.m. and continued socialising at another drinking spot in Lusaka.
Police said that between 2:30 a.m. and 3:00 a.m., Mutambo’s boyfriend, identified as Caleb Lisa, also known as Andrea, arrived and picked up the three women. He reportedly dropped the two friends off in the Minestone/Casanova area before proceeding with Mutambo to their residence in Kalundu.
Upon arriving at the residence, Mutambo reportedly began vomiting before becoming unconscious. Her boyfriend then contacted a friend, who assisted in taking her to Victoria Hospital.
She was reportedly pronounced dead upon arrival.
Following her death, police processed both the primary and secondary scenes as they began investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Her body was initially taken to FSG Mortuary before being transferred to the University Teaching Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Police have also dismissed earlier social media claims that Mutambo was beaten to death by her boyfriend, stating that no visible physical injuries were observed on her body.
An inquiry file has been opened, while investigations and the postmortem examination are expected to help determine the exact cause and circumstances of the young model’s sudden death.
