Nigerian Afrobeats star Ayra Starr has made her first on-screen appearance in the newly released teaser for the highly anticipated Hollywood fantasy film Children of Blood and Bone, marking a major milestone in her acting career.
The teaser gives fans a glimpse of the epic adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling novel, set in the fictional kingdom of Orïsha. While Ayra Starr’s appearance is brief, her inclusion has generated excitement among fans eager to see her transition from music to acting.
Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, the film features a star-studded cast including Thuso Mbedu, Damson Idris, Viola Davis, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Regina King, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo, Lashana Lynch, Tosin Cole, and several Nigerian actors, with Ayra Starr among the ensemble.
The story follows Zélie Adebola, a young warrior on a dangerous mission to restore magic to her people after it was wiped out by a ruthless king. Filled with action, powerful visuals, and African-inspired fantasy, the film is one of the most anticipated movie releases of 2027.
Ayra Starr previously revealed that acting had always been a dream but admitted she was initially nervous about stepping in front of the camera without singing. She described the experience as challenging and rewarding, saying it helped her discover a new side of herself.
