The Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps has declared one of its personnel, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, wanted over his alleged involvement in the illegal sale and supply of military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal elements.
In a statement issued on Thursday, July 23, and signed by the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, Major Oluwatope Aluko, the Army said preliminary investigations revealed that the soldier, who was serving at the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, absconded from his unit on June 3, 2026.
According to the statement, military authorities have officially declared him wanted, while security agencies are making efforts to locate and arrest him for a full investigation and possible disciplinary action under military laws.
The Nigerian Army reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for misconduct, indiscipline, or any act capable of compromising national security and the operational integrity of the Armed Forces.
It warned that any personnel found aiding terrorists or criminal groups through the unauthorized sale, diversion, or distribution of military uniforms, accoutrements, or other controlled items would face the full weight of both military and civil laws.
The Army also appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could lead to the arrest of the wanted soldier. It urged anyone with useful information to report it to the nearest military formation or any security agency.
The Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, professionalism, and safeguarding military assets, adding that it will continue to strengthen internal control measures and ensure that all cases of misconduct are thoroughly investigated and those found guilty are held accountable.
