The Organising Secretary of the Lagos State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Toba Ajiboye, has been shot dead by unidentified gunmen.
According to reports, the attack occurred when the assailants opened fire on Ajiboye, leaving him with fatal gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save his life, he was confirmed dead after the incident.
The killing has sparked shock and sadness among members of the transport union, with colleagues describing Ajiboye as a committed official who dedicated his time to the affairs of the union.
The Chairman of the Lagos NURTW, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, expressed grief over the tragic incident and called for a thorough investigation to identify and prosecute those responsible.
Security agencies have reportedly begun investigating the attack, while union members and sympathisers continue to mourn the late organising secretary. The motive behind the killing has not yet been officially disclosed.
