The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has foiled an alleged attack on a traditional ruler’s palace in Essien Udim Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of a 42-year-old suspect.
According to the police, officers responded swiftly after receiving intelligence about a planned attack on the palace. During the operation, the suspect was apprehended and found in possession of a locally made pistol.
The Command said the timely intervention of its operatives prevented what could have resulted in violence and further security threats within the community.
The recovered firearm has been taken into custody as evidence, while the suspect remains in police custody for further investigation.
The Police Command assured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property, urging members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies. Investigations are ongoing to determine whether the suspect acted alone or was part of a larger criminal group.
