
Troops of the Nigerian Army have uncovered and dismantled an illegal arms manufacturing factory in Kebbi State, recovering five locally fabricated AK-47 rifles and arresting two suspects during the operation.
The raid was carried out as part of ongoing efforts by security forces to combat the illegal production and circulation of firearms across the country. According to military sources, the operation followed credible intelligence that led troops to the hidden facility.
During the raid, soldiers recovered five AK-47 rifles along with other equipment and materials believed to have been used for the illegal production of weapons. Two individuals suspected of operating the factory were arrested and are currently in custody.
The suspects are expected to face further investigation, while security agencies continue efforts to identify and apprehend other members of the network.
Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying operations against criminal groups involved in the illegal manufacture and trafficking of arms, stressing that such activities pose a serious threat to national security.
