Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticised President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu over what he described as their silence and lack of urgency regarding the continued captivity of pupils and teachers abducted in Oyo State.
In a statement, Atiku expressed concern that despite the growing insecurity in parts of the country, the Federal Government has not shown sufficient commitment to securing the release of the victims. He said the prolonged ordeal of the abducted schoolchildren and their teachers has left families in anguish and raised serious questions about the government’s response to security challenges.
The former presidential candidate noted that the First Lady has been actively involved in matters affecting communities across the country but questioned her silence on the plight of the kidnapped pupils. He urged both the President and the First Lady to demonstrate compassion and take decisive steps toward ensuring the safe return of the victims.
Atiku further called on security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the abducted pupils and teachers, stressing that every Nigerian child deserves protection and access to education without fear.
He warned that continued insecurity threatens the nation’s future and urged the government to prioritise the safety of citizens above political interests.
