A High Court in Kogi State has ordered Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to pay ₦1 billion in damages to former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, over a defamation case.
According to the ruling, the court found in favour of Bello and awarded the sum as compensation for alleged defamatory statements made against him. The judgment also granted further reliefs sought by the former governor in the suit.
Reacting to the decision, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has indicated that she will challenge the ruling at the appellate court, insisting that she is prepared to pursue legal remedies to overturn the judgment.
The case has continued to attract public attention, with supporters on both sides awaiting the outcome of the planned appeal.
