The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested three notorious kidnap suspects linked to multiple abductions across Abuja and parts of Kaduna State, assuring residents of enhanced safety and continued crackdown on criminal elements.

In a major breakthrough operation on Saturday, June 29, 2025, operatives acting on actionable intelligence apprehended the suspects in a coordinated sting that spanned Wukushi and Mpape areas in the FCT, as well as Rigina in Kaduna State. The operation was led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Victor O. Godfrey, under the directive of the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Saka Adewale.

The arrested suspects have been identified as:

  • Abdulkadir Abubakar, from Mpape in the FCT
  • Mohammed Tasiu Sani, 25, from Rigina, Kaduna State
  • Suleiman Jibrin, 27, from Sabon-Gayan, Kaduna State

The trio are believed to be key members of a criminal network that operated from hidden forest camps in Kachia and Rigina, Kaduna State. Victims were held in these camps for extended periods until ransom payments were made. They have been linked to several high-profile kidnapping incidents in areas such as Jere, Kajuru, and various parts of the FCT.

During the operation, police recovered a high-powered motorcycle popularly known as a “Boko Haram motorcycle,” which is often used in banditry and kidnapping operations. The suspects are currently in custody and are cooperating with investigators, providing useful information that is helping to dismantle their broader criminal network. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing accomplices and recover additional weapons.

The FCT Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the arrests and stated that the suspects will remain in custody while investigations continue.

CP Ajao Saka Adewale commended the bravery and resilience of the operatives involved in the operation. He reassured FCT residents that the Command remains unwavering in its commitment to protecting lives and property.

“This arrest is a clear message to criminal gangs that the FCT will not serve as a haven for their activities,” the Commissioner said. “We are intensifying our operations and will remain relentless in our pursuit of peace and security across the territory.”

He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to the police to aid in the fight against crime.

The development comes amid ongoing efforts by the FCT Police, in collaboration with other security agencies, to curb kidnapping and other violent crimes in the Federal Capital Territory and its environs. Residents have been advised to report any suspicious activities promptly to the nearest police station or through established emergency channels.
