US Approves $151.8m Arms Sale to Israel

News

The United States has approved a new arms sale to Israel valued at approximately $151.8 million as tensions continue across the Middle East.

In a statement, the U.S. State Department confirmed that the package includes about 12,000 bomb bodies and related equipment intended to support Israel’s military capabilities.

According to U.S. officials, the deal is aimed at strengthening Israel’s ability to defend itself against ongoing regional threats. The equipment will reportedly be used to enhance Israel’s operational readiness and maintain its security amid rising instability in the region.

The proposed sale has been forwarded to the U.S. Congress, which has the authority to review the transaction before it is finalized. If approved without objections, the weapons will be supplied through the United States’ Foreign Military Sales programme.

Washington has long maintained that its security cooperation with Israel is essential to preserving stability in the Middle East. The latest approval comes as the region continues to experience heightened tensions linked to ongoing conflicts and security concerns.

However, arms transfers to Israel have also drawn criticism from some international observers and humanitarian groups, who argue that such sales could escalate existing conflicts.

U.S. officials, on the other hand, insist that supporting Israel’s defense capabilities remains a key part of the country’s longstanding security partnership with the Israeli government.
