The (DHQ) has confirmed the arrival of approximately 100 United States military personnel at the airfield in to support ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
In a statement released on Monday, the military high command said the deployment is part of an ongoing security cooperation arrangement between Nigeria and the United States aimed at strengthening operational capacity, intelligence sharing, and training support.
According to the DHQ, the visiting troops are expected to work closely with the , providing technical assistance and specialised expertise to enhance the fight against insurgency and other security threats in the region.
Military authorities emphasised that the presence of the foreign personnel is temporary and strictly advisory, adding that Nigerian forces remain fully in charge of all operations. The collaboration is also expected to improve surveillance, logistics coordination, and tactical readiness.
Officials reassured residents that the deployment is part of broader efforts to stabilise affected areas and restore normalcy, urging the public to continue supporting security agencies with credible information.
