According to local sources, the attack occurred when armed men stormed the community and seized worshippers during a church-related gathering. The kidnappers reportedly told residents that the initial demand is not ransom for the victims, but compensation for motorcycles they claim to have lost during the operation.
The assailants allegedly insisted that families and community leaders must first pay the ₦29 million to cover the cost of the missing motorcycles before they would open talks on the release of the abducted worshippers.
Residents described the situation as tense and distressing, with families struggling to comprehend the unusual demand while fearing for the safety of their loved ones. Many of the victims are said to be women and youths, further heightening concerns about their welfare in captivity.
Community leaders have appealed to the Kaduna State Government and security agencies to intervene urgently, warning that the scale of the abduction could overwhelm local efforts to secure the victims’ release.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies were yet to issue an official statement on the incident, while efforts are reportedly ongoing to establish contact with the kidnappers and secure the freedom of the abducted worshippers.
