The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Internal Security, Hon.
Garba Ibrahim Muhammad, has revealed that terrorists have issued threats to bomb the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.Muhammad made the disclosure while emphasizing the urgent need to bolster security measures around the country’s highest legislative institution.He noted that the development highlights growing security challenges across the country and called for the immediate establishment of a Legislative Security Directorate to coordinate and manage security operations within the National Assembly.
According to him, the proposed directorate would work closely with security agencies to prevent potential attacks and ensure the safety of lawmakers, staff, and visitors to the complex.
Muhammad further stressed that protecting the legislature is crucial, as it remains a key symbol of Nigeria’s democracy and national unity.
