2027: I’m Better Prepared to Lead Nigeria — Peter Obi

News

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi, has declared that he is now better prepared to lead Nigeria and address the country’s pressing economic and security challenges if given the opportunity in 2027.

Obi made the statement while speaking on recent national issues, noting that his experience from the 2023 presidential race and continued engagement with Nigerians have further strengthened his understanding of the nation’s problems. According to him, Nigeria’s current challenges require competent leadership anchored on discipline, accountability, and prudent management of resources.

The former Anambra State governor emphasized that the country’s worsening economic situation, rising insecurity, unemployment, and poverty can only be tackled through responsible governance and people-focused policies. He stressed the need for leaders who are ready to make sacrifices, cut waste, and prioritize investments in education, healthcare, and productive sectors of the economy.

Obi reaffirmed his commitment to democratic values and inclusive governance, stating that Nigeria has all it takes to work if leaders are sincere and focused on service rather than personal gain. He added that his vision remains centered on building a productive economy, reducing corruption, and restoring public trust in government.

While not formally declaring his candidacy, Obi hinted that he remains available to serve Nigeria, insisting that the ultimate goal is to rescue the country and put it on the path of sustainable development.
