The title Okanlomo is regarded as one of the most prestigious honorary titles within the Oyo traditional institution, often reserved for individuals considered to have demonstrated loyalty, leadership, service and commitment to the advancement of Yoruba culture and unity.
Seyi Tinubu, an entrepreneur and philanthropist, has in recent years been actively involved in youth empowerment initiatives, social interventions and political mobilisation, particularly among young Nigerians. Supporters say the recognition reflects his growing influence and contributions within Yoruba society.
The palace described the conferment as part of efforts by the Alaafin to recognise individuals deemed worthy of honour for their roles in promoting peace, development and cultural heritage across Yorubaland.
Security has reportedly been heightened in and around Oyo town ahead of the ceremony, as large crowds are expected to attend the historic event.
