A 19-year-old girl has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command over the alleged killing of her boyfriend following a jealousy-fuelled dispute.
According to reports, the incident occurred after an argument between the young couple reportedly escalated into a violent confrontation. Neighbours were said to have raised an alarm after hearing a commotion, only to later discover that the young man had sustained fatal injuries.
Police operatives were alerted and promptly moved to the scene, where the victim was found unresponsive. He was later confirmed dead, while the suspect was taken into custody for questioning.
Preliminary investigations suggest that jealousy and mistrust may have triggered the altercation, though the police stated that a full investigation is ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
The suspect is currently being detained as detectives continue their probe. The victim’s body has been deposited at a mortuary for autopsy, while the case will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Ogun State Police Command has urged the public, especially young people, to seek peaceful ways of resolving conflicts and avoid actions that could lead to irreversible consequences.
