“After Killing My Husband, Bandits Now Want Me to Marry Their Leader” — Plateau Widow Cries Out

A young widow from Mushere community in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State has cried out for help after armed bandits who killed her husband began threatening her and her children.

The woman, identified simply as Nanbam, lost her husband during the August attack in which about 40 people were killed by terrorists in the area. Speaking to the international NGO Equipping the Persecuted, she said the attackers have continued to torment her since her husband’s death.

According to her, the bandits repeatedly call her, demanding that she marry one of their leaders, warning that if she refuses, they will kill her and her three children.

Nanbam said she is living in constant fear and appealed to authorities and humanitarian groups to urgently intervene and protect her family.
