Troops Repel ISWAP Attack on Borno Military Base, Kill Several Terrorists

News

Nigerian Army troops have successfully repelled a coordinated attack by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters on a military base in Borno State, killing several terrorists in the process.

According to military sources, the attackers launched the assault using multiple vehicles, including vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIEDs), in an attempt to breach the facility. However, troops on duty swiftly detected the movement and engaged the terrorists with sustained firepower, forcing them to retreat.

The army said the VBIEDs were neutralised before reaching their targets, while many of the insurgents were eliminated during the exchange. No significant damage to the base was reported, and normal operations have since resumed. Security forces have continued clearance and surveillance operations in the surrounding areas to prevent further attacks and track fleeing militants.
