Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, collapsed in his office on Wednesday and was urgently taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Yenagoa.
According to Vanguard, the incident occurred at about 1:30 p.m., triggering immediate medical intervention. Witnesses said he appeared to be in serious condition when he arrived at the hospital’s emergency unit.
Ewhrudjakpo has since been stabilised and moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). While the exact cause of the health scare has not been officially confirmed, sources suggest it may have been a cardiac-related emergency.
A source close to him attributed the incident to his demanding workload, saying, “He’s a workaholic; he should find time to rest.”
