The United States Air Force has restarted aerial surveillance operations targeting ISWAP and Boko Haram activities in northeastern Nigeria, following fresh intelligence reports indicating increased movements and possible coordinated attacks by the insurgent groups.
According to security sources, the renewed surveillance flights are part of ongoing counter-terrorism cooperation between the US and Nigeria, aimed at tracking militant hideouts, identifying weapon supply routes, and monitoring suspected training camps across the Lake Chad region.
The operations, carried out using high-altitude intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft, are expected to provide real-time data to assist Nigerian forces in planning ground and air offensives.
