NSCDC Intercepts Truck Transporting 21 Underage Children in Kogi

News

Security operatives from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kogi State have intercepted a truck reportedly transporting 21 underage children under suspicious circumstances.

According to officials, the truck was flagged down during a routine stop-and-search operation. Upon inspection, officers discovered the children hidden inside, raising immediate concerns of possible trafficking and recruitment for criminal activities, including banditry.

The NSCDC said preliminary investigations suggest the children were being moved across states without the knowledge or consent of their parents. Authorities believe the movement may be linked to a coordinated attempt to recruit minors into armed groups.

The driver and other adults onboard the vehicle have been taken into custody for questioning, while the rescued children are currently under protective care.
