Senate spokesperson Yemi Adaramodu has debunked widespread claims that the Federal Government paid ransom to secure the release of schoolchildren recently abducted in Kebbi and Niger States.
Adaramodu made the clarification while addressing journalists, stressing that the government maintained its long-standing position against ransom payments. He said reports suggesting otherwise were misleading and should be disregarded.
According to him, security agencies coordinated the rescue operations and ensured the safe return of the abducted pupils without any monetary exchange with the kidnappers.
He added that the Senate remains committed to supporting policies and legislation that strengthen national security, protect schools, and prevent further attacks on vulnerable communities.
Adaramodu urged the public to rely on verified information from official channels and cautioned against spreading narratives that could undermine ongoing security efforts.
