Boko Haram fighters have launched a deadly attack on a security position in Borno State, resulting in the death of an Immigration officer and injuries to several soldiers.
According to security sources, the terrorists stormed the location in a surprise raid, engaging troops in a heavy gun battle. The soldiers reportedly fought back fiercely, but the attackers managed to overpower the post temporarily.
Reinforcements were later deployed, forcing the insurgents to retreat into the surrounding bush.
The wounded soldiers have been evacuated for treatment, while the body of the slain Immigration officer has been recovered. A military assessment of the attack is ongoing, and additional security measures have been put in place around the area.
