The Nigeria Customs Service, Seme Area Command, has intercepted a number of endangered wildlife species that were being transported illegally out of the country.

The operation took place at the Gbaji axis along the Badagry–Seme Road.According to the Command, officers on duty discovered a lion cub and two patas monkeys concealed and being moved toward the Benin Republic border.

The animals, all classified as endangered, were immediately seized to prevent their trafficking.Customs officials noted that wildlife smuggling remains a growing concern, and the Command has intensified surveillance along border routes to curb the illegal trade.

The seized animals have been handed over to relevant authorities for proper care and further investigation.

The Command reiterated its commitment to protecting wildlife while continuing its crackdown on smuggling activities across the Seme corridor.
