Community leaders in Benue State have raised serious concerns over renewed violence in Tombo community, located in Logo Local Government Area, revealing that no fewer than 50 people have been killed in the past 10 months.
According to the leaders, the persistent attacks have left many families devastated, forced hundreds of residents to flee their homes, and created heightened tension across the affected villages.
They described the killings as “relentless and tragic,” calling on both the state and federal governments to take urgent action to protect lives and restore peace.They further emphasized that the continuous insecurity has crippled farming activities—Benue’s major economic lifeline—leaving communities struggling with fear, hunger, and displacement.
Residents are appealing for increased security presence, early-warning response systems, and humanitarian support for families who have lost loved ones or been rendered homeless.
Authorities are yet to issue a detailed statement, but concerned citizens insist that the situation demands immediate intervention before more lives are lost.
