Tension has gripped a community in Kogi State as residents took to the streets to protest worsening insecurity following the discovery of an abducted elderly woman’s lifeless body.
According to reports, the woman was kidnapped by unknown gunmen a few days ago, sparking panic and fear among villagers. Despite efforts by local vigilantes and security operatives to rescue her, she was later found dead in a nearby forest.
The tragic incident triggered outrage as angry residents blocked major roads, demanding immediate government intervention to address the growing cases of kidnapping, killings, and armed robbery in the area.Protesters, carrying placards with inscriptions such as “We need security now!” and “Enough is enough!”, called on Governor Usman Ododo and security agencies to deploy more personnel to protect lives and property.
Community leaders have also appealed for calm while urging authorities to take decisive action against the rising wave of criminal activities in the region.Police authorities are yet to issue an official statement as of the time of filing this report.
