Air Chief Orders Intensified Airstrikes Against Terrorists Nationwide

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, has ordered all air component commanders involved in ongoing military operations across Nigeria to step up airstrikes against terrorists and criminal networks threatening the nation’s security.

Aneke gave the directive during a high-level strategy session with commanders from various operational theatres at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Headquarters in Abuja.

According to a statement by the NAF, the meeting—convened under the new leadership—focused on enhancing precision air operations, intelligence-driven missions, and stronger collaboration with ground and maritime forces.

“We must fly smarter and strike harder. Every mission must reflect professionalism, purpose, and patriotism,” Aneke stated, stressing the importance of agility, precision, and coordinated intelligence in counter-terror operations.

The Air Chief further emphasized the need for seamless coordination between air, land, and sea operations to ensure mission effectiveness. He assured that the NAF remains committed to working closely with sister services and other security agencies to restore peace across the country.

Reaffirming his commitment to personnel welfare, innovation, and continuous training, Aneke pledged to equip NAF personnel with modern tools and skills to guarantee mission success.

He also reiterated the Air Force’s resolve to uphold the government’s vision for peace and national security, maintaining international standards of professionalism and accountability.

The directive follows growing international attention on Nigeria’s security challenges after former U.S. President Donald Trump accused the Nigerian government of failing to curb the “mass slaughter” of Christians and hinted at possible U.S. military intervention if the violence persisted.

The Federal Government, however, dismissed Trump’s remarks, urging Washington to engage Nigeria’s security realities with greater understanding.
