According to prosecutors, the nurse, who worked at a hospital in southwest Germany, deliberately injected his patients with overdoses of sedatives and other dangerous substances, leading to multiple deaths over several months.

The court heard that the convicted nurse targeted vulnerable and terminally ill patients under his care, often claiming he wanted to “ease their suffering,” though investigators concluded his actions were motivated by a desire for control and attention rather than compassion.During the trial, survivors and relatives of the victims described the devastating emotional toll of the crimes, calling for justice and stronger oversight in the healthcare sector.

In its ruling, the court condemned the nurse’s actions as “inhumane and calculated,” stressing that such crimes deeply violate medical ethics and public trust in the healthcare system. The verdict brings to an end one of Germany’s most shocking medical crime cases in recent years.
