Israeli President Isaac Herzog announced on Monday that the country will confer its highest civilian honour on U.S. President Donald Trump in recognition of his pivotal role in securing the release of Israeli hostages held in Gaza and his efforts toward ending the ongoing conflict.According to Herzog, the award symbolises Israel’s deep gratitude for Trump’s “unwavering support and decisive diplomacy” during one of the nation’s most difficult periods.

Trump, who recently arrived in Israel ahead of a regional peace summit in Egypt, is expected to receive the honour at a special ceremony in Jerusalem later this week. The Israeli presidency described the gesture as a tribute to Trump’s “exceptional commitment to peace, security, and the well-being of the people of Israel.”
