The controversial case involving members of the Safer Highways Squad who allegedly robbed an offshore worker has taken a new twist.
According to reports, the officers who initially stole the man’s fish, meat, and went as far as using his account to borrow ₦202,000 from a loan app, have now reportedly returned ₦200,000 to the victim. However, the fish 🐟 and meat are still nowhere to be found.
Residents jokingly claim that the missing food items might have been “shared” among the officers’ wives to prepare Sunday rice. Many Nigerians online have reacted angrily, demanding full justice for the victim.
They insist that the officers must not only return the remaining ₦2,000 but also replace the stolen fish and meat. Additionally, they should pay the full loan interest since they were the ones who used the victim’s account to borrow money.
As one commenter put it:
“This matter no go end like this. Una go return the 202k complete, provide the fish and meat, and even pay the interest. Because una no be officers that protect citizens — una be thieves in uniform.”
The incident has once again raised concerns about police misconduct and abuse of power, with Nigerians calling for proper disciplinary action and compensation for the affected worker.
