Suspected bandits on Thursday night stormed the studentsโ hostel of Bilyaminu Usman Polytechnic, Hadejia, in Jigawa State, dispossessing occupants of their belongings and leaving two students injured.The attack occurred at the hostel located along Malam Madori road, where the gunmen reportedly broke into several rooms, seizing mobile phones and other valuables. Witnesses said the assailants operated for several minutes without immediate resistance before escaping.Two students were said to have sustained injuries while attempting to resist the attackers.
They were later rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.Police spokesperson in the state, DSP Lawan Shiisu, confirmed the incident, noting that security operatives had been deployed to the area to restore calm and track down the perpetrators.The latest incident has heightened concerns over studentsโ safety on campuses across the state, with parents and community leaders calling for improved security presence around higher institutions.
