stressing that President Tinubu is committed to Nigeria’s democratic principles and has no intention of remaining in power beyond the constitutional limit.They explained that the President’s focus remains on delivering his Renewed Hope Agenda and, if given a second mandate in 2027, he will conclude his tenure in 2031 in line with the Nigerian Constitution.
The insinuation that President Tinubu is seeking to perpetuate himself in office is not only false but also mischievous. The President remains fully committed to upholding the Constitution, which provides for a maximum of two terms in office,” the Presidency said.The clarification comes after El-Rufai suggested in a recent remark that Tinubu harboured plans to extend his stay in power. The statement from the Presidency, however, maintained that such narratives were designed to distract the administration from its governance agenda.
