The three-time African champions, who were ranked 44th in the previous edition, now sit outside the top 40 as global football governing body, FIFA, updated the standings following the recent round of international matches.Despite the slight dip, Nigeria remains among Africa’s top football nations, holding the sixth position on the continent. Morocco continues to lead the African chart at 12th globally, followed by Senegal (17th), Egypt (30th), Algeria (34th) and Tunisia (41st).At the global level, World Cup holders Argentina retained their number one spot, ahead of France in second place and Brazil in third.
England and Belgium complete the top five.The rankings will play a crucial role in determining seedings for upcoming international competitions, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the Africa Cup of Nations fixtures.
